A Belgian family of four, on Barbados since 1991.
We first came to Barbados in 1991 to compete in the Barbados PBA Windsurf World Cup. Since then a lot has happened: windsurfing went to kitesurfing, kitesurfing went to swim, bike, run.
For a couple of years now it looks like we have come full circle. We are back on the water, and happy to be.
Working hard and enjoying slowly ;-)
Jan and Sophie
Your hosts, and the ones answering your messages. Jan and Sophie both love anything on the water: kitesurf, wing foil and windsurf.
Nina and Charlie
We learned every water sport from our parents and still love it, even if Charlie spends more time in the gym these days. We love coming to Barbados, often with friends, and exploring the island one beach at a time.
Barbados is family for us. Sophie's sister Ninique has lived on the island for around thirty years, close to Sundance, and it is where her kids Kaipo and Kiana grew up.
Kaipo is a professional tennis player and travels the world, Kiana lives in Amsterdam these days, and both are very good surfers, so you might spot them at Freights. Everyone keeps coming back to the island. So do we.
With family on the island, we always wanted a place of our own here. We first rented Sundance, fell in love with it, and then bought it. Freights at the end of the road, our family around the corner: we love everything about it.
Stacey welcomes you and shows you around. Maresha keeps the house clean, Brian looks after the garden, and Sinclair and Wendell are our handymen.
