Silver Rock and Silver Sands, a couple of kilometres down the south coast, are where we kite and wing. For a first wingfoil session, try Welches Beach.
We kite and wingfoil ourselves, so ask us where the wind is.
Silver Rock
Kite, windsurf, foil and wing. Flat water or waves, never too crowded, friendly locals. Windiest in the morning and the evening. Brian Talma's deAction Beach is right here, with food, kite lessons and gear to rent.
Welches Beach
A good wingfoil spot for beginners, with white sand and easier water. On some days the wind blows slightly offshore, so check before you go.
Barbados is windy most of the year. The kite season runs from about November to July, with steady trade winds from the east. August to October is the rainy season: the wind is lighter and comes and goes.
Freights Bay is a gentle break, good for families and groups, and a nice place to learn.
Bring your own board or rent one from a surf school, walk down the road, and rinse off under the outside shower when you come back.
Look out for turtles!

Our second surf spot, just past the lighthouse at the tip of Atlantic Shores. A reef break with long, fast lefts and shorter, punchy rights, best for intermediate and advanced surfers.
It works best on an east to southeast swell with a light north wind, from mid to high tide. The reef is sharp, there are currents and sea urchins, and getting in and out over the rocks takes care, so this one is not for a first lesson.
